So I’ve been working on the sequel to THE BOOK OF LUKE and I ran into a conundrum. In one version the story continues the summer after Luke and Emily’s senior year. In another version the story continues three years after they graduate. And I like both versions, so I’m curious.
If you were going to read about how Luke and Emily’s relationship continues, would you prefer it was the summer after they graduate or three years later?
Talk.
Personally I think you should do both and maybe do one chapter the summer and the next three years later.
But if we have to choose I would prefer 3 years later. I love Luke and Emily and I can’t wait to read more of them!
Oh, I like that idea!!! Brilliant and totally doable.
I agree with using both. Perhaps using the summer after as a prologue-esque set up and follow with their story three years later.
I think you should go with the summer after they graduate because if the characters are young, the reader can relate to them more. 🙂 btw is this story going to be an actual book or is it going to be online?
I think that you should write about the summer after Luke and Emily graduate. Then you can write a third book about three years after, have it be a trilogy. I also agree with Norain, I can relate more to the characters if they are younger. Also the gap between would be a little much I think. We wouldn’t know what had happened while they were away at college.
P.S. I love your writing and all of your books!
Thanks, Liza!!!
Three years later with flashbacks! Whatever helps you write fastest! I hope the book comes out before August 2013!!
Now THAT’S a cool idea!!!
