Bar none, the most emails I get are about THE BOOK OF LUKE. And I just don’t get it!! When I was writing LUKE I wasn’t loving it. I actually remember not even being that sure about it. So what is it that people like about that book?
I get emails from readers that are all gushy about it, but they never tell me what it is that they loved. Really, I’d like to know. Because I can’t figure it out.
Why do you love THE BOOK OF LUKE so much? Can anyone tell me?
What I loved so much about the Book of Luke was the love hate relationship. I think the whole plot of her playing a game with him was really interesting and the ending was perfect! I really enjoyed the other books as well but this one just is a good book that I believe a lot of girls can possibly relate to. I think the fact that the girl is not “perfect” and the boy is just gives the girls hope I guess. But I love all your writings you are an AMAZING author!!!!!!
Because (SPOILERS) of the scene in which they have their first time and he tells her he loves her. That is my favorite scene in any YA book ever. Her position is so desperate and he’s so obviously not the guy she thought he was and you just KNOW he really does love her, and all of the emotion of the entire book is wrapped up in that scene. That’s why I love THE BOOK OF LUKE the most. The rest of the book is good, but, in my opinion, that scene MAKES it.
Jessie – so funny, I barely even remember that scene, I remember writing it, but I don’t remember exactly what happens. I’m going to go back and re-read that scene right now!! You make it sound so good. O, I love writing girls who aren’t “perfect,” probably because those are the most real type of characters. Thanks for answering!
I just received this book and cant wait to read it! Once I read it i will be sure to tell u what I like about it 🙂
The Book Of Luke is also my favourite teen novel of yours. I love everything about it really haha. The premise, the humor, the characters etc. But one thing that is crucial for me in YA with romance is the connection between the protagonist and the romantic interest. Emily and Luke had the best connection, I could basically feel it radiating off of the pages.
Plus how adorable and awesome is Luke? He has that whole bad boy thing going for him but really, under the surface, there’s so much more than meets the eye. He’s one of my favourite YA male characters ever.
I just cant read The Book Of Luke too many times! I love their relationship, and how they always have so much fun. You need to write more books with this kind of stuff! 🙂
Also, they need to make this book into a movie…
Thank you!!! It’s sweet of you to take the time to post about LUKE. No matter how many times readers say they love LUKE, I never get tired of it! I am actually working on a book right now that is the closest to LUKE of all the books I’ve written, but it’s being a bear and I’m trudging through it. Hopefully it will be done soon.
In the mean time, try another of my books, I’d be curious to hear how you think it compares to LUKE. Thanks again!
I just read this book and I loved it! There was so much that I liked about it. The whole book was amazing. I want to be a writer and this book really inspired me to start writing. I want to be able to make a book that is that good. Please make a sequel!
I adore this book! Its one i can keep reading again and again. I became Emily and when she felt happy, i felt happy, when she felt sad so did i. And i actually fell inlove with luke myself. You need to bring out a movie! A lot of teenagers lie, an even though it doesn’t always work out, i like how she got another chance.
I’m so glad you enjoyed LUKE, Charlotte. I hope you check out the sample first chapter of the sequel, Luke and Emily are in for a bumpy ride!
